Our mission.
Tia Moyo e.V. (Swahili, for "encourage", or literally, "give heart") is a non-profit organization that provides micro-grants to people living below the poverty line in Tanzania.
Recipients have full control over the use of their grants, and the projects are developed by the recipients and community-based advisors. Possible projects range from setting up a small business to funding school fees, and infrastructural improvements to their home.
By letting people decide for themselves how they can improve their standard of living, we aim to achieve efficient, targeted and sustainable poverty reduction.
Past projects
Ridhiwani used funds to improve his café, where he serves tea, coffee, and baked goods.
Aloisia used starting funds to improve the selection of goods at her store.
Mkude used a loan to fix his motorcycle, which he uses as a taxi service.
Hassani bought material for his tailoring business, where he makes custom clothing.
