Blog Post 10: Projects together with Stanbic Bank
Dear friends and supporters of Tia Moyo,
At the beginning of this year, Tia Moyo received a generous donation of 20 million Tanzanian shillings (around €7,000) from Stanbic Bank Tanzania. Thanks to this incredible support, we were able to launch and expand several important community projects that are already making a meaningful difference in the lives of many families across Tanzania.
From helping women build sustainable sources of income, to supporting children with access to education, and improving sanitation through the construction of three new toilets and permanent septic tanks, this partnership has created real and lasting impact. We are deeply grateful for the trust and generosity that made these initiatives possible.
Chicken Coop Project
One of the most exciting developments has been the launch of our chicken coop project for five women in the community. A new chicken coop was constructed, and the women received their first chicks together with chicken feed to begin building their small businesses.
The coop was carefully designed with two sections: a raised enclosure for the young chicks and a larger area for the fully grown chickens. The women are now raising the chickens with the goal of selling them for income, helping them move toward greater financial independence. The project is already progressing very well, and the first round of chickens will soon be ready for sale.
Supporting School Children
Education continues to be one of the core priorities of Tia Moyo. Thanks to this donation, we were able to support 19 students with essential school supplies, helping children continue their education with the materials they need to succeed.
We were also able to provide special orthopedic shoes for a student with a disability and expand our support beyond the Dar es Salaam region into the Dodoma region. In partnership with Arkam, Leticia’s son, who teaches in the rural village of Mpwapwa near Dodoma, we supported additional students with basic school supplies and continued reaching children in underserved communities.
Business Training and Economic Empowerment
Another important milestone was the launch of our new economic empowerment training program for women. Leticia organized a three-day entrepreneurship workshop led by a local teacher, where ten women learned practical business skills and how to produce soap that they can later sell in their communities.
At the end of the training, the women received the materials needed to start their own small businesses, giving them the opportunity to generate income independently and support their families. This initiative is an important step toward long-term empowerment and sustainable livelihoods for the women involved.
We are thankful to everyone who continues to support Tia Moyo and make these life-changing projects possible. Together, we are creating opportunities, strengthening communities, and building hope for the future.
With gratitude,
The Tia Moyo Team
