Blog Post 9: Finances of 2025

Dear friends and supporters of Tia Moyo,

The new year has started wonderfully for Tia Moyo. We received a generous donation from Stanbic Bank Tanzania of 20 million shillings (around €7,000). Together with your donations, this money is currently being used to support several exciting new projects.

In this blog post, however, we would like to take a look back at our first full operational year. We are incredibly grateful that, with your support, we were able to realize so many projects, many of which you have already seen in our previous blog posts. It has truly been the best start we could have hoped for.

Below, we provide a brief financial overview of the year 2025 and show how your donations contributed to improving people’s lives.

In total, we received an astonishing €14,007 in donations. Of this amount, €13,670 (over 97%) was sent directly to Tanzania. The remaining funds were used to maintain our website and to cover bank fees.

Of the money that arrived in Tanzania, more than 75% (or €10,367) was spent directly on projects. Our largest initiatives included the construction of toilets (~€3,500), the provision of school supplies (~€3,500), and the purchase of goats as an economic lifeline (~€1,000). Around 11% of the funds were paid as a salary to those organizing and implementing these projects. Another ~8% was used to rent the Tia Moyo office, which serves as a central contact point for the recipients of your donations.

The remaining funds were used to cover bank and government fees, general operating costs, and transportation. Now that we have established the infrastructure needed to carry out our work, we are confident that as donations increase, we will be able to raise the share of funds spent directly on projects even further. Below, you find an interactive Sankey diagram showing the flow of all funds in 2025.

For the continued support of projects in Tanzania, we rely on the ongoing commitment of our members and donors. In the diagram below, you can see our monthly funding, which consists of regular contributions from our members as well as additional donations. While the contributions from our members increased by around 25% over the year, other donations fluctuated considerably. For this reason, we will continue working to attract new members. You can support us in this effort by recommending the work of Tia Moyo to your friends and colleagues.

Finally, we would like to thank you once again for every donation and for your continued trust in our work. We look forward to sharing updates on the exciting new projects that you have helped make possible.

With gratitude,
The Tia Moyo Team
